General Assistance Program Public Notice
The municipality of Windsor administers a general assistance (“GA”) program available to all persons who are eligible pursuant to the standards provided in this ordinance, state law (22 M.R.S. §§ 4301-4326), and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) regulations. A copy of this ordinance and pertinent statutes are available for public inspection at the Town Office.
Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so during normal office hours
Monday, Thursday, & Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
In an emergency, applicants may contact Theresa Haskell at 458-2756.
Applications must be filled out completely and DO NOT sign until the appointment time.
General Assistance Application
The municipality’s General Assistance Administrator must issue a written decision regarding eligibility to all applicants within 24 hours of receiving an application.
The Department of Health and Human Services’ toll-free number to call with questions regarding the General Assistance Program or to report alleged violations is 1-800-442-6003, option 2, then option 1.
